INFORMATION ON SAGANAGA LAKE (Sag Lake):

What it offers:

Saganaga Lake is a beautiful lake in the heart of the wilderness and has dozens of islands (289) covered with virgin pine, cedar, birch, balsam and spruce.

After you leave your car, there are no roads north, east or west — just a vast, timeless wilderness dotted with hundreds of lakes.

Many lakes are soon reached by boat and portage — this country is blessed with short portages. The exciting challenge of attempting to exhaust the many fishing spots on Saganaga would take many years, and for the even more adventuresome, day trips into surrounding lakes creates a nearly inexhaustible adventure.

Big Saganaga Lake — replete with fascinating history, has played a major role along the Voyageur's Highway of the 1700's. On the 4000 mile water highway, Saganaga Lake held one of the three major trading posts for the Voyageurs and Native Americans.
